A dental check-up is a veterinary examination specifically assessing your pet’s dental health. This includes evaluating the condition of the teeth, gums, and overall oral hygiene.
Dental check-ups are typically performed during the same visit as your pet’s annual booster vaccinations, as this is a convenient time for the vet to assess your pet’s overall health, including their teeth, as part of their routine examination. This ensures that any dental issues are monitored regularly and addressed promptly as part of routine care.
In order to claim for any dental treatments, your pet needs to have had an annual dental check-up in the prior 12 months to the first mention of a dental issue.
We understand that some pets may feel anxious at the vet, making it challenging to have their teeth examined. In such cases, alternative methods, like sending photos of your pet’s teeth to your vet for evaluation, can be used. We are happy to accept this as part of a dental check-up, provided your vet is able to effectively assess your pet’s dental health through these means.
