Do you cover BOAS?
Updated over a week ago

We know that this is a common condition for some breeds and we're happy to inform you that we would look to provide cover for BOAS, we don’t explicitly exclude surgeries such as these as a general rule.

We don't however cover pre-existing conditions and anything that happens in the waiting period (if applicable).

At Napo, we define a pre-existing condition as any injuries, illnesses, or behavioural disorders for which your pet had signs of symptoms, treatment, medication, or advice in the last 24 months up to your policy start date. This would include for example, vets noting concerns about possibly having issues that would lead to BOAS etc.

We are not able to cover that definition of ‘pre-existing conditions’.

This is not to say that all brachycephalic breeds are automatically deemed to have this as pre-existing though, even though they are more likely to be pre-disposed to it - many dogs can have no concerns for years and as they get older, the issue then becomes apparent to the vets and they believe help is needed.

Our policy Terms & Conditions are here so that you can see what's covered and not covered in general.
