We unfortunately don't cover pre-existing conditions

Updated over a week ago

We unfortunately don't cover pre-existing conditions - which we define as any injuries, illnesses, or behavioural disorders for which your pet had symptoms, treatment, medication, or advice in the last 24 months before the policy start date.

That includes bilateral conditions that can affect, body parts of which your pet has two or more such as ears, eyes, feet, knees, cruciate ligaments, shoulders and elbows:

e.g. if an eye infection affects your pet's left eye before your policy starts, and then the pet's right eye shows symptoms afterwards, unfortunately we'll treat it as a pre-existing condition because it's one cause that has bilateral symptoms (the symptoms show on both sides of the body).

If your pet has a very old pre-existing condition that didn't show symptoms or get treatment in the last 24 months, we will look to cover it! Many insurers won't cover these dormant illnesses and injuries, but we do at Napo :)

Whilst we can't offer cover pre-existing conditions, we'll look to cover new accidents taking place after the first 24 hours of your policy start date and any other illnesses after the first 10 day of your policy start date.

So having pre-existing conditions won't prevent you from taking cover in the first place.
