Can I claim my excess back?
Can I claim my excess back?
Updated over a week ago

Excess is your contribution to the claim and is being deducted at the claim stage, this is simply to help us keep the costs of our policies down.

At Napo, we have a £99 excess* per condition, per policy year (for vet fees only which includes complementary, behavioural and dental conditions).

You will pay your excess from your claim payment, not your policy cover limit so there are no surprises when it comes to your overall cover balance after you claim ☺️

If you claim for anything other than vet fees or Third-party liability there is no excess to pay e.g. travel and quarantine fees.

If for example your pet injured their leg and you needed to claim £150 for treatment - you'll pay £99 towards the costs and we would reimburse you the remaining £51. If they needed a follow-up consultation for £100 within the same policy year, you wouldn't pay any further excess so we would cover the full £100.

If a few months later they had a stomach bug and needed a consultation and medication for this, you would pay £99 excess again as this is a new condition.

We also have a separate excess for third-party liability cover, that’s when you’ll need to pay a £250 excess (dogs only).

  • If you have purchased your policy or received your renewal email before the 19th of February, 2024, 11:35 AM, then your excess for vet fees only will remain as £75 per condition, per policy year until you renew.
